Above
is Johns' first nylon string guitar. This one is interesting
in that it is made from the same filch of mahogany as his first
steel string. The other materials are also similar. The neck
is lacewood with an ebony spline reinforcement. The top is western
cedar with
an LMI supplied rosette. The
cocobolo bridge is decorated with solid paua shell. It is bound
with ebony with red and rosewood
purflings.The
tuning machines are Sloanes.
As with all
Timblin guitars these designs are not knock offs. For better or
worse these are Johns' unique creations. The second in this series
went to its owner
in Santa Fe before finished pictures could be made. Her instructor
has high praise for the tone and playability of the instrument.
