14
Fret Model
|
This is the prototype for Chris's 14 fret model. The back is koa, the sides are birds-eye maple laminate and the top is engelman spruce. The side braces are a laminate of purpleheart, maple and ebony with abalone inlays. The top shown below was made for this instrument but when Ervin Smogyi saw it at the Healdsburg Guitar festival, he made Chis an offer he couldn't refuse. Paintings on the underside of the top are optional. However, many experts have stated that they do feel the guitars with abstract art on the soundboard have a more full and balanced tone. ;-) |
