Timblin "Fat Bottom Girl" SN#004

This is the only guitar that I failed to get a deposit on before I started building. The guy that I built it for requested an odd shaped neck. When he disappeared without buying the instrument I was stuck with a good guitar with a neck nobody else liked. So I have replaced the neck and here it is for sale.

This instruments is my own design and is serial #FBG004. It is my fifth instrument. It is big with a big bright sound. It is 17” across the lower bout. The back and sides are high-flame European Maple, the top is Sitka spruce with a very pronounced bear-claw pattern. It has solid ebony bindings with red & white lines and real Paua shell purflings. The back strip, rosette and markers dots are also solid Paua. I mention the real Paua since virtually all of the big name makers now use a man made material called abalam that is much cheaper and easier to work.

The fingerboard is Ebony. The pick guard is a synthetic material called “Tortise” that is a very good imitation of the real thing. The head stock veneer and bridge are Cocobolo, a Mexican rosewood. The bridge pins are un-slotted water buffalo horn with shell dots. It has Gold Schaller with ebony buttons tuning machines. There is a L.R. Baggs dual source pickup installed.

Since this instrument lacks many of the features of my current production it is offered at a very reasonable $2900 in a custom case

If you have seriously looked at custom built guitars, then you know this is an exceptional low price. Especially considering the low serial number which will greatly enhance it’s value when I am famous. I can put you in touch with other owners of FBGs if you like.
