As we ate, we were entertained by Mike Daugherty playing Flamenco guitar
THANK YOU! Tammy & Chuck Lee for their hard work in hosting a great spread for LINT….and a personal thank you to James from Chuck for a thorough shop cleaning prior to the event!
Visitor John Worrel (farthest left) and members turn out in Chuck Lee’s shop for the meeting.
A NOTE TO ALL LINT MEMBERS from Bo:
One of our own, US Army Specialist MATT JACOBS, will be deploying to Iraq in January, 2006. He is an explosives/ordinance technician and a fine young man serving in our nation’s military. Please let him know you support his service to our country and pray for his safe return.

General business:

LINT will participate in a custom instrument show to display our individual work. The event should be next October at an art gallery in Mansfield, Texas. Further details will be forthcoming from Chris Jenkins. Anyone interested in participating should be prepared to complete an instrument of their highest quality work and be able to attend the event.

Steve Kinnaird suggested we look into joining a website forum called OLF to share ideas and details of our work with others. He thought a link to us would be beneficial to all members. A group of us (Chuck Lee, Mike Roach and Andy Avera) will investigate the project and update the group at a later meeting.

Chris Jenkins encouraged everyone to look ahead to attending the 2006 GAL next summer. He finds it to be a stimulating and informative environment for builders.

LINT President Bo Walker acquired a commercial bandsaw and will provide discount resawing and surface sanding for LINT MEMBERS.

Wallace Taake is interested in possibly having a LINT meeting in the Houston area (he lives near Houston). We will look at that possibility and discuss in further detail with Wallace and Steve Kinnaird as a 2006 meeting site.
Show & Tell:
Dan Fobert – His new archtop he calls the “Big Daddy” made of fiddleback Aniegre and spruce. As usual, the attention to detail is superb as can be seen in the photos.
Andy Avera plays the Fobert “Big Daddy” at the October meeting.
Mike Imhoff – Mike brought his latest Zebrawood dreadnaught with stained back bracing and kerfed lining to complement the light/dark motif of zebra stripes. He says he was inspired to decorate the interior components by Chris Jenkins work.
Chuck Lee – His newest inlay theme of a “Dragon over the Moon” shows why he is one of the recognized custom banjo makers. His amazing graphic detail work is just one of his many skills. Also shown is the purple dyed maple rim….very nice work.
Bo Walker – The current 24” scale parlor guitar is made from sapele (striped mahogany) and sitka spruce top. The bloodwood binding and Honduras mahogany neck will completed soon. Cedar Creek Cases will produce the smaller case required for this special order instrument. Bo has noticed a strong interest in small bodied guitars in the last few years. What started out as a custom “one of a kind” for singer/songwriter Jeff Posey has turned into a rash of 4 orders since 2004.
