| The meeting was held at Wood World (www.woodworldtx.com) and hosted by the new owners Stu Johnson and Casey Miner. The staff includes Manager Casey Miner, mill operator Troy Peterson and laser operator Larry Rymers. | ||
|

Casey gave an American Eagle carbide pattern bit as a door prize for the event and it was won by our guest Robert Baker. Make sure to utilize the services offered by this wonderful resource. Call Casey at (972) 669-9130 for any questions. LINT THANKS WOOD WORLD AND THE STAFF FOR A WONDERFUL MEETING! General meeting notes: LINT will begin organizing a custom instrument show for October 2006 to be held somewhere in the DFW area. We will discuss the details at the October 2005 meeting. New faces…LINT welcomes Kent Barnes, Beau Thorne, Robert Baker, Jeff Porter and Scott Crissey. There is an unclaimed 35mm camera which was left at Lewis Bauer’s shop last spring. If it’s yours, please Email www.lint.org to claim it. |

Show & Tell |
||
| Guest Jeff Porter brought his first instrument. It is a Peruvian walnut classical guitar with a spruce top. He commented on his focus to improve his finishing technique and is ready to start guitar number two. He also brought some rosette artwork from a software program he developed. If anyone is interested he will be at the next meeting to discuss how it works. | ||
| Mike Roach showed off his new logo and leather apron both designed and handmade by the multi talented Crystal McKnight. She makes wonderful padded instrument straps, shop aprons and embroidery for custom applications such as shirts and ball caps. Crystal may be reached at www.mcknightinstruments.com. | ||
| Guest Kent Barnes brought a carved F5 style mandolin (it’s only his 3rd instrument) and it is quite a lovely piece. His wood selection was as beautiful as his sunburst finish. Moses McKnight played a little bluegrass to demonstrate its tone. Kent should be proud of this one for some time to come. | ||
| Good ‘ol Chuck Lee somehow got his wife’s banjo out for the day and brought it to the LINT meeting. It has a beautiful tobacco brown, figured maple pot and nice peghead inlay. Chuck always manages to produce eye catching banjos. Once again, we had to twist Moses McKnight’s arm to play it for us….but he never seems to complain. | ||
| Bo Walker shows a nearly completed custom mahogany dreadnaught with figured maple binding and slotted peghead. It was the result of very specific customer requests (African mahogany body, Indian rosewood fretboard without front dots, Waverly tuners with ebony buttons and Indian rosewood bridge). Andy Avera sat down and played it for the group. It will have lower action and a pickguard before it goes home. | ||
| Former Texas resident and LINT member Ed Schaefer sent pictures of his new 15” arched design and says a big hello from the state of Minnesota. See what else our LINT “member of the frozen north” is up to at: www.schaeferguitars.com. | ||
| Member Chris Jenkins could not attend this month due to being in California at the Healdsburg Guitar Festival. He should be at the October meeting with an update on the event. | ||
