Our annual pot luck dinner was hosted by Bob and Winnie Harris at their beautiful home in historic Dallas. The food that was brought by LINT members was fantastic. Ribs, veggies, omelets, hazelnut coffee and apple pie. Thanks to all members and spouses for the wonderful feast.
BUSINESS: Discussions were held on the evolution of the website and our 2005 Masters class. Some possible presenters were discussed and will be contacted to see if they will be available for our February session. New plans were made by Gary Graves for Dan Fobert’s luthiers clamp. He took hard drawings and converted them to the Auto Cad drawing program. Copies were made available to members and can be had for a $5 donation to the LINT club. Contact Gary Graves or Bo Walker to get yours.
WELCOME NEW MEMBERS! Logan Doffron, Lynette Landry and Steve Bigelow. We are glad to have you all!

Show & Tell
Logan Doffron showed us his Koa tenor uke. He went to Hawaii (great excuse, huh?) to spend a few weeks and attended a class on Uke making. He did a fine job and is very proud of the results. These little instruments are becoming quite popular again.

Our photographer Andy Avera plays the Chris Jenkins guitar which Chris brought to demonstrate his adjustable neck design. Andy also brought his guitar kit(in progress). It is a rosewood dreadnought with spruce top and mahogany neck.

Dan Fobart brought his design for the router arm he has modified to mount to several surfaces. Seen here it is mounted to a wall/door frame by means of a clamp. He showed how to also mount it in a drill press in a prior meeting.. Dan brought a mandola which favors his guitar design. It is beautifully carved and is as detailed as the guitar he showed off in the June 2004 meeting notes.
New member, Steve Bigalow, brought his new project and had a few questions from some of our members. As you could guess, there was an abundance of suggestions from those in attendance. He is a fire fighter by day and a motivated builder in his off hours. Keep up the good work Steve...and welcome aboard!
| Mike Roach brought a really nice portable amp he found on Ebay. It is sold by Grizzly (that’s right, the tool company). It seems the company President S. Balolia is a builder just like us. Make sure to hear this amp. Jim Wheland plays a Jenkin’s guitar for everyone through the Grizzly. Check out the Grizzly website at www.grizzly.com for tools and materials for instrument making.

Moses McKnight brought a couple of reproduction 5-string conversion banjo necks. As you can see it the picture his attention to detail and craftsmanship are spectacular! Remember folks, he cut all of the pearl himself! |
| For future tech session, Bo Walker responded to many emails and meeting requests for tips on finishing. He bought the basic elements for a nice beginners finish. The ease of use and the end results were shown on this Walker rosewood classical . The four basic elements are sanding sealer, Preval Sprayer, Micromesh and ultra fine abrasive polish. Look for more on this in a future article.
